Enrollment Information

                                                            February, 2008

Dear Parents,

Below are the following application materials for the 2008-2009 school year:

Admissions Policy
Statement of Basic Christian Beliefs
Registration and Tuition Policies
Enrollment Application
Dress Code 2008-2009
Code of Behavior
Mission and Beliefs Statement

Please note the following for the 2008-2009 school year:

  1. There will be no increase in the first child rate for 1st through 8th graders. The multiple children discount will continue to be available to our families. Activity fees will remain the same. These fees offset some of the expenses to operate our fine arts, foreign language and athletic programs. There will be a 3% increase in our kindergarten rate.
  2. Consistent with our research discussion, we have modified the second, third, and fourth child discounts. This results in approximately a 5% increase for multiple child families. We are making some additional scholarship funds available to meet some of these needs. If interested in applying for financial aid, please make sure that you check the Scholarship Assistance box on the enrollment application.
  3. The $900 per family fund raising requirement will remain. HVCS offers school-wide fund raising events, year-round grocery cards, and SCRIP to help families reach their requirement. Details will be available at the September Parent Meeting.
  4. The school board recognizes that maintaining healthy enrollment is vital to keeping tuition affordable and contributes to a balanced budget. Michigan's economy and the resulting record setting decline in public and private school enrollment has resulted in tremendous competition for new students. After careful consideration, the HVCS Board feels that a substantial offer should be made to attract new families. As part of our enrollment drive, for families completely new to HVCS, we are offering a one year, one time only reduced tuition rate of $3,000. per child for children in 1st through 8th grade. New families who partake of this offer will not be eligible for further financial aid assistance this year.

Please complete and return the Enrollment Application, The Statement of Basic Christian Beliefs. Parents of new students should also review the Admissions Policies. Your application will be incomplete if not accompanied by the registration fee(s).

Registrations will be processed beginning on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 8:15am.  Applications can be dropped off at the school or sent via US Mail at any time after the above date and time.  Priority registration will end on Wednesday, February 20th at 8:15am.  After this time, all priority rankings expire, and applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis (see the Registration and Tuition Policies sheet).

Please do not delay in returning your materials.  Current students are guaranteed a place next year if the application is submitted during the priority period.  After the priority period, if a class is filled, students will be placed on a waiting list until a place opens.

All new students in the 1st through 8th grades are required to take math and reading admission tests.  These tests will be administered on Tuesday, March 4th or Tuesday, March 11th, 8:15-9:45am. Please contact the school office to sign up for one of these dates. Students only need to attend one of these sessions.   Kindergarten readiness evaluation will take place as part of “Kindergarten Roundup” on Monday morning, March 17th, 10:00–11:45am. Current Kindergarten parents please note: Kindergarten will not be in session on March 17th due to roundup activities.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at (734) 483-0366 or check this website for more up to date information.

                                             Sincerely in Christ,

                                             Tim Kotyuk, Principal
